Summer Handbag Essentials

With the weather getting nicer and people spending more time out of the house it’s important to make sure your handbag is topped up with all the essentials! Here’s my list of top things everyone should have in their handbag this summer.

Facial Spray

If you have dry skin like me then having a facial spray in your handbag needs to be a top priority! Facial sprays give you a boost of hydration over the top of any makeup you may have on. I love Mac Fix+ for over the top of makeup, it takes away any powder residue and makes your face look lovely and glowy. Rose water is a great natural (and cruelty free) alternative to Fix+. I tend to go for rose water if I don’t have any makeup on as it’s more hydrating than Fix+ (though it can still be applied over makeup too)

If you are pale, an SPF is a must have! Even if you’re not pale, you should still be using an SPF to minimise the risk of sun damage to your skin and the possibility of skin cancer! I have a whole guide to my top SPF picks which you should definitely check out. One of my favourites for popping in my handbag is Bioderma’s Hydrabio Spray, not only does it hydrate your skin but it has spf 30 so it’s great for topping up your spf throughout the day.

Hand Cream

My hands get really dry during the summer due to the weather change and this means my eczemaΒ is more likely to flare up. To try and prevent this I make sure I’m always applying handcream throughout the day. If you read my nail care post you’ll know I’m rather obsessive about my hand and nail care so I always apply cuticle oil through the day too. I know this isn’t practical for some people though so finding a quick absorbing handcream for everyday use has been on my to do list. I love this coconut one from the Mad Beauty handy set.

Hand Sanitizer / Wet Wipes / Tissues

I bring hand sanitizer or wet wipes everywhere! You all should! Wet wipes are not just for mummies and daddies with toddlers with sticky fingers. I love this little ‘Handy Set’* from Mad Beauty. It comes with a hand cream, hand sanitizer, pack of wet wipes and mini pack of tissues. All of the products are coconut flavoured and smell amazing, it definitely makes me feel like I’m on holidays! They’re also really compact so can fit in any handbag. I like to pop the little hand sanitizer in my pocket if I’m out and don’t want to carry a big bag.

Lip Balm

Lip balms are a must. I carry one everywhere so I’ve always got one in my handbag. My favourite lipbalm as always is Burt’s Bees. I lost my last one a few weeks ago and within a few days my lips started to get dry and cracked! (Of course I’ve stocked up again) Burt’s Bees make these in lots of different flavours so there’s one for everyone. My favourite is the pomegranate flavour as it also gives your lips a pinky tint.

I always like to pop my lipstick of choice for the day in my handbag for touch ups. There’s nothing worse than getting your phone out to take a selfie in whatever fun place you’re at to notice your lipstick has worn off and your makeup looks unfinished.

I hope this list has helped you to stock up your bag for summer. What are your top handbag essentials?

  2. I haven’t heard of facial spray, I just tend to use creams so I’ll definitely look into that. Yes,my hands get dry so easily too so I’m always using some sort of hand cream!

  3. Great post! I always love seeing what people carry around πŸ™‚ I think my favorite summer item at the moment is Merci Handy’s Chill Out refreshing face mist. I am quite hot-natured and HATE the fact the UK doesn’t have air conditioning so anything that can help keep me cool and refreshed, I’m there! πŸ˜‰

  4. I love the flat lay pictures!! They are such a stunning way of showing each item. I’m with you on tissues, although more for winter for me. It’s so annoying to have to sneeze and realizing you have no tissues on you XD
